Membership

We want you! We want you to become a member of The Greater Chicago Chapter of The Pennsylvania State University! The Chapter offers a plethora of great activities for Penn State alumni and supporters in the Chicagoland area. Activities occur throughout the membership year and range from rewarding service projects, high school recruiting fairs, social events, and supporting our great university's athletic teams!

Becoming a member offers these great benefits:

- Subscription to PSU Chicago mailing list – receive brief, periodic email reminders of upcoming chapter events

- Discounts on selected chapter activities

- Periodic hardcopy mailings throughout the year

- Priority for Penn State sports tickets sold by the chapter

- Chapter voting privileges

- Qualified to become more involved with a committee or the board

Our membership year runs from August 1 through July 31.

You can sign up for either an individual membership ($10) or a couple membership ($15). A couple membership is defined as two people residing at the same address.

The Membership Committee processes new and renewal chapter memberships and maintains a database of chapter members. The committee uses the database to provide other chapter committees with targeted member lists and mailing labels based on the interests members checked off on their membership applications and renewals.

So there you were. Stuck in the interminable heat of a traffic jam on the inbound lane to O'Hare in August, mind you - August!

A line of angry eyes look back at you from rear view mirrors. Amid the complaints of honking horns you hear a chorus of voices yell: "We Are!" At least that's what you think you heard. "Penn State" you say to yourself involuntarily as you look around.

There, in a hatchback next to you, a group of kids are smiling and waving and pointing. They must have seen your Penn State license plate. You smile. You give them the Number One sign.

You realize that's exactly why you bought the plate in the first place. That's what it means to be a Penn State. And that's when it happened. You knew you should become a life member of the Penn State Alumni Association.
