The
Sports Programming committee's primary responsibility
is coordinating football ticket sales, trips
to football games, and other Penn State athletic
events. Although Penn State football is most
certainly a social activity of the chapter,
sports programming was split out from general
social events to more adequately handle the
demands associated with numerous ticket requests
and the many details in planning a trip to a
game.
If you have questions about a scheduled event or would like to talk about
new ideas for this committee, please contact committee chairperson Dave
Hart at (847) 741-8692 or by email sports@psuchicago.com.
Penn State Bowl Game
Watching Party
Remember the Alamo? Maybe not, but you can still enjoy the Alamo Bowl,
where Penn State will take on Texas A&M on Saturday, December 29
at 7 PM. After the chaos of Christmas and before the debauchery of New
Year’s Eve, come out to Flounder’s (2201 North Clybourn
Ave in Chicago) to cheer on our team and Joe Paterno (who will be coaching
his 500th game!). Enjoy all the usual drink and food specials (and maybe
even an Alamo Bowl special).
Let’s cheer on Penn State on to another Bowl Victory and start
envisioning an even better 2008 season. For more information contact
Social Chair Chris Duerwachter at socialchair@psuchicago.com.
Go State!
Men’s Basketball:

Come out and watch Penn State take on Northwestern in Evanston on Wednesday,
January 2 at 8 PM. Penn State supporters will be sitting behind the
Penn State bench above the walkway. Tickets can be purchased at the
game. Any questions, please contact Sports Chair Dave Hart at (847)
741-8692.
Penn State Football 2007 Viewing Information
HEY PENN STATERS! ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL?
As much as everyone loves summer, there’s just something about
fall - when the leaves begin to change, there’s a little chill
in the air, and all across the land people gather together to watch
the world’s greatest sport - COLLEGE FOOTBALL. So get out the
jerseys and the face paint because it's time for Penn State football.
The Chicago Chapter is pleased to announce that we have a new viewing
location this fall - FLOUNDER’S
BAR & GRILL which is located at 2201 N. Clybourn
Avenue in Chicago. For those of you who haven’t yet had a chance
to see our new viewing location, we already have a few banners hanging
up in the back room and we really have an opportunity here to make this
our new home away from home.
Maybe with a few requests we could even get a decent cheesesteak or
Pittsburgh-style sandwich on the menu? (Sorry, no Yuengling though)
Flounders is an easy walk from the CTA’s Red and Brown Lines using
either the Armitage or Fullerton stations, and is also very close to
the #9 Ashland, #73 Armitage, and #74 Fullerton buses. If you’re
coming from the suburbs, Metra’s Clybourn Station (on the UP North
and Northwest lines) is also close by, and there is a pay parking lot
across the street at Webster Place.
Flounders features a full bar with many domestic and import beers, has
great service, and lots of great specials on the menu (try the garlic
fries). Check out their website at:
http://www.barsonline.com/chicago/flounders/main.htm
So folks, in a few days we’ll get to see if this Penn State team
is the one that returns to glory. Make sure to come out early, wear
blue and white, and let’s pack this bar and let everyone within
earshot in Chicago know that WE ARE PENN STATE.
